Annual Reunion
The 2008 reunion has been bookedfor the 1st Nov 2008 at
the SPOT NIGHT LUB,SACHEVEREL ST, DERBY.
the invites have gone out,but you can down load the invites from the site, http://1wfrreunion.co.uk
Gibraltar Reunion.
The reunion is set to take place in Gibraltar from 1st – 5th May 2008 and was initially conceived for those that served on the Rock with the Regiment of 1965 – 1967 nevertheless, interest has been shown from other ex-Regimental soldiers who had served with the Regiment elsewhere. We have also had some interest from ex Sherwood Foresters and WFR so the invitation has extended to include those personnel. The following list is of other ex Worcester soldiers that are currently residing in Gibraltar:
Both Taffy Phillips and Adrian (Paddy) Spelman who both remained living in Gibraltar have deceased.
Do you recognise any of these names from your time in the Army?
We have looked into group bookings but regrettably these seem to be more expensive. You have the option of checking flights through:
Easyjet (www.easyjet.com) OR Monarch Airlines www.flymonarch.com
Flights only available from Gatwick and Luton airports. Both affordable airlines fly directly to Gibraltar.
There are some other flight destinations (i.e. Malaga and Jerez both have airports), as some of you may wish to continue after the reunion with a holiday in the Costa del Sol, Spain.
If you do wish to arrive at any other airport other than Gibraltar then please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to make arrangements for your collection, as taxi’s can prove to be quite costly.
We have managed to obtain discounts at two local hotels:
Elliots Hotel – Located just off Main Street by the Garrison Library. It is very modern with a swimming pool on the terrace and onsite restaurant. It was built approximately 30 years ago. The Regimental Dinner will be served at this hotel. Twin or double bed rooms are available.
Room = £80.00 per night
Please contact Barbara Fulton for more information on telephone 00350 200 70500 or fax 00350 200 70243 or check out the website on www.ocallaghanhotels.com and click on the ‘Gibraltar Hotel’ tab.
Bristol Hotel – Located at Cathedral Square just off Main Street (next to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity). We used to pass it every Monday on Convent Guard Mounting. Either twin or double bed rooms are available.
Room = £65.00 per night
Please e-mail reservations@bristolhotel.gi for more information or access their website on www.bristolhotel.gi
Remember to state that you are making the reservation for this reunion to apply for the discounted rates.
There are other hotels in Gibraltar but these are more expensive and have therefore not been included in our list but you may find out about them on any Gibraltar based website or through your local travel agent.
